The Libertarian ISIL WORLD CONVENTION in New Zealand is again behind us!
The planning for next year's world convention has started. Because 2005 is THE YEAR OF AYN RAND (because of her 100th birthday) this convention will be in St. Petersburg June 10 - 15.
Nearer is the LIBERTARIAN ALLIANCE / LIBERTARIAN INTERNATIONAL FALL CONVENTION In London. (2004, September 25/26 ). MORE HERE BELOW
Is Europe on the way down the drain? See here below FREE EUROPE.
The European Freestate Project does not yet make much progress contrary to the USA FREE STATE PrOJECT.
Read about the success of the LANGUAGE OF LIBERTY INSTITUTE.
As always, we mention some ways to make your life more free. Even if it is only a fraction, many fractions will give results.
We want your help too!
For Personal Liberty, Hubert Jongen.
1. 2005, YEAR OF AYN RAND
We hope to give more information in our next Euroletter about the celebrations by several events and publications. See already the announcement about the Libertarian ISIL World Convention in St. Petersburg here below.
2. The LIBERTARIAN ISIL WORLD CONFERENCE IN NEW ZEALAND FROM 21 - 28 JULY, 2004
This was again a very pleasant and successful convention.
One of the remarkable observations was the high attendance of local libertarians and the libertarian ideas of several members of parliament!
If these members of parliament can realize their ideas, New Zealand might be in for a second revolution like they had about ten years ago with Roger Douglas. The first revolution was watered down by the influence of too many socialistic ideas among politicians with power. This proves that during the first successful revolution the changes made were more pragmatic than principled. To have and keep a sustained improvement it is necessary that people understand the principles of freedom. We have a lot of work to do to get to that point!
Detailed reports are not yet available but we hope to publish more about the convention as soon as we get them.
3. LIBERTARIAN WORLD ISIL CONFERENCE IN St.PETERSBURG FROM 10 - 15 JULY, 2005
Join us in Celebrating THE YEAR OF AYN RAND July 10 to 15, 2005 ISIL's 24th annual world conference will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of famed authoress/ philosopher Ayn Rand - in her home city of St. Petersburg, Russia.
The conference, which will feature a kaleidoscope of famous speakers, will reflect upon the enormous influence that Ayn Rand has had on the world of individualist / free-market ideas and how her philosophy may very well influence the direction a new Russia might take.
Watch this page over the coming months for details regarding speakers, development of the conference theme, Rand-related tours (visiting the sites named in her novel We The Living, and travel tips). So make plans to attend and participate at what promises to be a stimulating and rewarding historic event.

4. LIBERTARIAN ALLIANCE / LIBERTARIAN INTERNATIONAL FALL CONVENTION in LONDON 2004, SEPTEMBER 25/26
It is a good habit that the LA/LI Fall convention is in LONDON. This year it is planned to be at the weekend of September 25/26.
On the of moment writing this (Aug 29) we are sorry we don't have any more information from our British organizers.
So if you plan to attend, send mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send all received information directly to you. Of course you also (better?) can go to the LA site: http://www.libertarian.co.uk/
More information will follow as soon as it comes available.
5. LIBERTARIAN INTERNATIONAL SPRING CONVENTION 2005
This will be in SOFIA. April 2 - 3, 2005 and organized in cooperation with the Bulgarian Society of Individual Liberty.
Plans are developping about which we will report more in next Euroletter.
6. FREE EUROPE
EUROPE is growing more "statist" by the day.
There are now 25 states in the European Union. The heads of the states have agreed on a new constitution and plan to sign it officially in Rome on October, 29. After that the constitution has to be ratified by all parliaments. Ten countries will have a referendum before that takes place. Most of these referenda will be only "consultative", so the politicians can do whatever they want. Some have already announced that if a country votes NO, there will be another referendum. (and another and another until they get a YES). Tony Blair is one of them.
The ex-ennemies France and Germany are already executing the wisdom: If you cannot beat them, join them". The French minister of Foreign Affairs has announced that the main line of French external politics will be strengthening their influence in Europe. And Jacques Chirac and Gerhard Schroeder are meeting with Vladimir Putin in the summer resort Sochi at the Black Sea to arrange "crucial international matters".
Maybe the next danger for war in Europe will come when the question arises if Europe must have a French or a German Emperor!!
A first important next step for libertarians could be to propagate as much as possible to get NO-Votes in the coming referenda.

7. ACTIVITIES IN EUROPE
SWEDEN The Swedish libertarians are active as always. Henrik Bejke tells us:
Last weekend in Sweden the annual Summer Seminar of the Freedom Front took place. Around 50 participants gathered in a summer camp outside the small town of Trosa to listen to speakers, discuss libertarian ideas, and eat and drink a lot. It was a huge success.
Last week some libertarians in Sweden organized a protest against Michael Moore's "documentary" Fahrenheit 9/11. They named the network "Pro Veritas" and acted by passing out flyers outside the movie theaters. The flyers informed the viewers about all the lies and errors in the film. The protesters were not calling for censorship but protested that the film was marketed as a documentary. This protest got a lot of attention in the press and radio. A website with additional information was also created http://www.finn59fel.com
The NETHERLANDS During celebration of CAPITALISM DAY (Sunday, June 6) it became clear that in The Netherlands libertarianism is growing. Several new persons or groups are spreading libertarian/objectivist ideas.
For year there was only the Libertarian Center. Now there are also: -Foundation MeerVrijheid, (MoreFreedom) -Foundation Frederic Bastiat, -FREE EUROPE -Libertarische Partij -Two new parties: De Liberalen and Vrijheidslijst -A starting action group "Heffer" -Young Libertarians -and some web sites and mailing lists
This is very positive, although it is not yet enough to stop the growth of socialism/fascism.
AUSTRIA The "F.A. HAYEK INSTITUT" is planning two big international conferences, one on infrastructure privatisation (road and rail) in October 13/14 and another one on TAXES in November 17/18. Contact and information: mailto:email@example.com http://www.hayek-institut.at
EUROPEAN FREESTATE PROJECT This project does not move very much contrary to the US FREE STATE PROJECT. The difference might be caused by the US project. In the US it is looking more viable of course, the action there now is concentrated on New Hampshire. We will stay in touch and further investigate the realisatian of a European Freestate,
8. LIBERTY ENGLISH CAMP (The Language of Liberty Institute) by Steve Browne and Glenn Cripe
The first week of July, we held the seventh annual Liberty English Camp on the shores of Lake Trakai near Vilnius, Lithuania. This year was the biggest and best camp ever, with nearly fifty students from Belarus, Lithuania and Ukraine, and ten teachers from all over the world, including three from the Lithuanian Free Market Institute
Everyone enjoyed greeting old friends and welcoming new friends. The week was packed full of interesting activities, including writing a book about liberty, a program for younger children (new this year), and on July 4, discussions about great freedom fighters of our time, ending with a fireworks display over the lake. We also enjoyed cookouts, a sauna, boating, and visiting the castle.
Two of our veteran campers from Belarus, Tatiana and Dimitri, provided the week's highlight by announcing their engagement. We celebrated with a snake dance, winding out of the camp, through the town, and across the bridge to the island and Trakai Castle.
Everyone had a truly memorable week, and our parting grew quite emotional.
We have now grown too big to remain a part-time, all-volunteer organization. We decided to form a non-profit corporation, The Language of Liberty Institute, to provide more structure, skills, and funding to organize better scheduling, accounting, publicity, curriculum, teacher training, and expansion. Besides Steve and Glenn (US), the Board currently consists of Virgis Daukas (Lithuania) and Jaroslav Romanchuk (Belarus). Todd Elliott is the Secretary; Kevin Bjornson handles facilities, selection, and scholarships (both US).
We want to spread the ideas of liberty and free markets around the world!
Inquiries have come from Bulgaria, Romania, Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, Mongolia, and China. Already in India, Barun Mitra created and held a similar camp in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Next year, we plan to hold another camp in Lithuania, a second in St. Petersburg (immediately preceding the ISIL conference), and a third somewhere, possibly in Bulgaria.
Visit us at www.libertycamp.net/#list, view photos of the camp, sign up for our newsletter, and plan to join us next year!
8. OUR SITE: http://www.libertarian.to
The bad news is that our site has been hacked. Our internet service provider, "HOSTSAVE" informed us that the site was hacked and that we should find another ISP. Just like that. Does not sound save!
We had a lot of work restoring the whole thing with a new provider. Although we lost lots of information, the site now is in the air again.
Your advice how to prevent this happening another time, will be appreciated.
The site www.anarchism.net is again in the running. It is worthwhile to visit this site run by Per Bylunt. You will find good guidance in the jungle of persons/groups who call themselves "anarchist" but in fact are something completely different. Here part of the mission:
"Anarchism is a jungle. There can be no other word for it: there are collectivist and individualist anarchists, revolutionary and pacifist anarchists, atheist and Christian anarchists, communist and socialist anarchists, high- tech and primatism anarchists, industry-centered and environmentalist anarchists, as well as property abolitionist and free-market or capitalist anarchists.
It simply cannot be possible to navigate in this jungle of ideas, which are so obviously contradictory. Yet they all claim to be anarchist. Even though all anarchists agree on the necessity of abolishing the state and its oppression, they usually put more energy into fighting each other than advancing their common goal."
10. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO GET A MORE FREE LIFE?
