Euroletter 70
(L I info at end)

»No Topic

The WALK FOR CAPITALISM on December 2 was a great success indeed. Even our MOST sceptical friends had to admit that. Will this WALK of December 2nd, 2001 be the starting point from where Capitalism starts its deserved victory in the world?

Only one point is not solved satisfactory, and that is the covering of costs made by the preparation. Please see chapter about the Prodos Appreciation Campaign and check if you can help. Please act NOW, help us to cover at least US $ 3,000.-, so that next projects can have a fresh start. (See below)

The next great project, also originated by Prodos, is to create in 2002 at least 100 NEW capitalistic RADIO TALK SHOW HOSTS. (See below)

This EUROLETTER is "full of capitalism"! The announced book by Johan Nordberg can help to give you arguments. Buy more copies to distribute and to convince your friends. (see below)

And, like always, we publish an impression of what you can find on our web site: http://www.libertarian.to

From LIBERTARIAN INTERNATIONAL we wish you all a wonderful Holyday Time and for 2002, and beyond, a world that becomes more

FREE and PEACEFUL

It is worth working for it!

In International LIBERTY,
Hubert Jongen

1- WALK FOR CAPITALISM on December 2, 2001.

Enthusiastic reports are still coming in from the about 100+ cities where a walk was organised. There were walks with only three persons and walks with more than 350 participants. But all walked with a very proud feeling that here was the possibility of a turning point in history for the better. For the first time ever there was a demonstration FOR capitalism.

Now we have a yearly day, the first Sunday in December, that capitalism will be celebrated worldwide. With the experience of this first WALK, next year's will be an even greater success, and from then on it will grow and grow.

Could you imagine that ten, or even five years ago we could dream of a march for capitalism in cities/countries like Moscow, Albania, Bangladesh, Kenia, Korea, and many others like them?

Just read what Valentina wrote from Bucharest: "The March was a very exhilarating experience here. We are decided to prepare it better next year (for example we thought we could publish "Capitalism, The Unknown Ideal" by Ayn Rand and launch it at the March next year). It was my very first walking in the street for an idea and talking to people in the street about it in a 45 years life, from which 33 were lived under Communism. Try to imagine that."

This is all thanks to Prodos who had the idea, and the energy and persistence to realise it. And now Prodos, and more city coordinators, already started to organise to make the 2002 celebration an even greater happening with even more success.

See for more details: http://www.walkforcapitalism.org

"Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned." (Ayn Rand)

2- HUNDRED NEW PRO-CAPITALISTIC RADIO TALK HOSTS WITHIN ONE YEAR!.
Strengthen the Voice for Capitalism World Wide! This is a new great project Prodos started Read his own words:

"Let us create a global market for pro capitalism ideas.

On this day, December 12, 2001, the Centenary of Guglielmo Marconi's first transatlantic radio transmission, I hereby invite you to praise this great inventor and entrepreneur http://www.nobel.se/physics/laureates/1909/marconi-bio.html and to:

START YOUR OWN RADIO SHOW!

The Rational Voice Project has an initial goal of training and setting up 100 new autonomous, pro capitalism radio presenters/interviewers around the world.

If your viewpoint is aligned with thinkers such as John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, Frederic Bastiat, Ayn Rand, Ludwig Von Mises, and Adam Smith - I invite you to join the Rational Voice Project.

You will get free coaching and support and be encouraged to develop your own personal style as a presenter and interviewer.
Most importantly you will be protected from many of the myths about being a presenter (such as needing to have a "good radio voice")

Rational Voice shows need not be confined to political or philosophical issues. But all Rational Voice presenters need to at least include some degree of positive, pro capitalism content in their shows from time to time. Internet TV shows are also welcome.

More details will be available soon. And I will be defining some guidelines, rules, and restrictions - but nothing onerous or daunting :-) To register your interest please email prodos@RationalVoice.ORG and tell me a little about yourself. Please also provide your phone number.

And do let others know about this project! Please refer them to http://RationalVoice.ORG and invite them to join PLANET - http://prodos.com/bulletin/planet.html "

Well? Isn't that a wonderful thing to look forward to? To have next year at least 100 new radio voices in the air? Just like at the start it seemed impossible to have a pro-capitalistic WALK in more than 100 cities over the world, this Rational Voice explosion seems like a long shot. But the WALK was done. And having seen what happened, we have the fullest trust that these 100 voices will be in the air before December 31, 2002. As a minimum!

3- PRODOS APPRECIATION CAMPAIGN (PAC)
Prodos Appreciation Campaign for the Walk for Capitalism

Dateline:D2, December 2, 2001 - Capitalism Day, and the Walk for Capitalism was a great success in as many as 108 cities around the world! Groups ranging in size from a handful to hundreds of pro-capitalists celebrated Capitalism Day with speeches, awards, parties and a Walk for Capitalism in their city streets.

The creation of this official Capitalism Day and the completion of the inaugural event worldwide, is an outstanding achievement. It provided a cohesive, action-oriented project for libertarians, objectivists and advocates of individual rights everywhere around the world – a chance to proudly celebrate the ideals, the benefits and the heroes of capitalism.

Thousands of individuals were involved in making this a success.

While each of us contributed in our own way, and each of us achieved our own deep level of satisfaction with our results, there is one person without whom this opportunity would not have existed. That is Prodos, the founder and director of the Prodos Institute in Melbourne, Australia.

Prodos promised 50 cities for this first International Walk For Capitalism. He delivered over 100 cities with Walk coordinators.

Prodos promised to set up web sites for every city walk.
He delivered a web site for every city and an amazing WalkforCapitalism web site for the world to see.

Prodos promised media coverage.

There were hundreds of media mentions world-wide, including some in virtually every city that participated in the celebrations. This is all a result of positive direction provided to over 100 coordinators in over 100 cities, and to many hundreds more on the Project Leaders Action NETwork list (PLANET).

This did not "just happen". It took years in the development stage, months of detailed planning, and the coordination of hundreds of volunteers and volunteer leaders world-wide. For months leading up to D2, it was the sole focus of Prodos, the founder and director of the Prodos Institute. 14, 16, 18 hours a day. Some days with no sleep at all.

It has cost thousands of dollars to finance the communication network, so that we could all celebrate a successful Walk for Capitalism in our own cities.

Prodos is too busy to be raising funds personally. In fact, the Prodos Institute is already making plans for next year's Capitalism Day events and for the year after, and the year after that. And Prodos is on to the next synergistic project – creating a world-wide network of pro-capitalist radio interviewers around the world – The Rational Voice Network.

That's why we've formed this Prodos Appreciation Campaign.

Right now, the Prodos Institute is still over US $3,000 in debt as a result of web hosting, telephone, and other expenses piled up in the creation of the first Annual International Capitalism Day celebrations in over 100 cities world-wide.

That's $3,000 urgently needed to see the Prodos Institute free to continue the good work of creating a pro-capitalist network around the world.

This will say THANK YOU, PRODOS for the Walk for Capitalism 2001, and will start building steam for the 2002 Walk for Capitalism, and those following in 2003, and year after year beyond that.

Won't you help?

Will you donate $250 or $500? Will you donate $80 or $60 or $40? Will you donate $1,500 or $850 if you can?

Your donation today can and will make a difference.

Please follow these instructions to make the largest donation you can by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, money order, bank draft, or bank transfer.

1. E-mail Mary Lou Gutscher at MLGutscher@free-market.net to pledge your credit card donation and to send your credit card information by e-mail or fax. Mary Lou is the world-wide coordinator for this fund-raising effort, and will personally donate at least $2.50 for every $100 donated by credit card.

2. E-mail Hubert Jongen at hubertjongen@compuserve.com to let him know the amount of your money order, bank draft or bank transfer pledge. Then follow the instructions below to make your payment through Libertarian International. Hubert is the European coordinator for this fund-raising effort, and he will personally guarantee that your pledge gets to the Prodos Institute immediately, and that all bank transfer charges to Prodos will be covered.

Please do it now, as a way of saying Thank You, and of acknowledging the good work being done toward a freer, more prosperous world.

Thank you.

4- IN DEFENCE OF GLOBAL CAPITALISM.
This NEW BOOK, by Johan Norberg is now available in English. It comes really on a very good moment. We just had the successful manifestation of the Walk for Capitalism, and before and during the Walk we experienced again and again the very wrong ideas that most people have about capitalism. Wrong ideas that are stimulated by many governments. Wrong ideas that cause so much suffering in the world.

This book can help to correct these wrong ideas. The book is very readable. It uses the latest available facts and proves very clear the advantages and the morality of the capitalist system.

Johan Norberg is a 27 year old historian who starting as an anarchist reached the conclusion that capitalism is the recipe for making freedom and prosperity come true. He proves how capitalism has brought hope to the oppressed and new opportunities for the impoverished.

You can order this book from http://www.globalcapitalism.st/index.asp And it costs 130 SEK (about 14 Euro or 12 USD). The price includes V.A.T. and shipping. If you buy more than five books you pay only 85 SEK per copy (about 9 Euro or 8 USD).
By buying and spreading more books, you help paving the road to freedom!

5- GERMAN MAGAZINE: "eigentuemlich frei".

The December issue of this excellent German libertarian magazine is again very interesting. The main theme this time is about smoking, environment and freedom.
But the other articles are interesting too, such as the nonsense about the "greenhouse-effect" and others.

I especially liked an analyses of Gerhard Glaruck about the attitude of the greens regarding the war. He shows that stopping the opposition against the war after September 11 is not surprising. Aggression to the outward world is only the other side of the same coin of government repression inward.
The greens never ever had a real fundamental principle against force. Only libertarians have this consequent, consistent principle.
my interpretation! Publisher: André Lichtschlag *Lichtschlag@eifrei.de*
